GRIHA Council and Delhi Technological University (DTU) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen sustainability education and research in Indiaโ€™s built environment sector.

The agreement was formalized between Binod Doley, Registrar, DTU, and Shabnam Bassi, Deputy CEO and Secretary, GRIHA Council, in the presence of Prof. Prateek Sharma, Vice Chancellor of DTU, and Sanjay Seth, Vice President and CEO of GRIHA Council.

The collaboration aims to promote Outcome-Based Education (OBE) and applied research to address real-world sustainability challenges. It will focus on joint academic initiatives, including field-based research, industry-driven problem statements, live projects, and policy-linked studies to bridge the gap between academia and industry.

As part of the partnership, the institutions will introduce a Joint M.Tech programme in Green Buildings and Sustainable Built Environment, along with internship opportunities and capacity-building initiatives. The collaboration will also facilitate knowledge transfer through training programmes on sustainability concepts and GRIHA rating systems.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Sharma highlighted the importance of aligning academic frameworks with Indiaโ€™s long-term sustainability goals, including the net-zero emissions target by 2070, adding that the partnership would strengthen climate-responsive design and innovation.

The partnership is expected to play a key role in developing future-ready professionals equipped to lead Indiaโ€™s transition toward a sustainable and resilient built environment.
