Hindustan Power, one of Indiaโs leading integrated power producers, has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) for a 435 MW (DC) solar PV project to be established in Uttar Pradesh.
The 25-year agreement marks a significant milestone in the stateโs clean energy roadmap and contributes toward the UP governmentโs ambitious target of achieving 22,000 MW of renewable capacity by 2026โ27. The project, awarded through a competitive bidding process in April 2025, is set to play a pivotal role in enhancing energy security, generating employment, and advancing sustainable development in the region.
Hindustan Power has commenced groundwork with the inauguration of its project office at the site and has initiated stakeholder coordination, site development, and workforce deployment.
Commenting on the development, Mr. Ratul Puri, Chairman of Hindustan Power, said, โThe signing of the power purchase agreement sets the wheels in motion for rapid on-ground implementation. We are moving ahead at full pace to ensure seamless execution and support Uttar Pradeshโs vision of becoming a trillion-dollar economy.โ
This initiative is part of the companyโs broader strategy to expand its renewable energy footprint and reach a 5 GW clean energy portfolio, aligned with Indiaโs transition to sustainable power.
