VinEnergo Joint Stock Company has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to implement rooftop solar power solutions integrated with battery energy storage systems (BESS) at the manufacturing facilities of VinFast, VinES, and V-G. The agreement marks a significant step toward green manufacturing, renewable energy adoption, and clean energy infrastructure development at the battery and electric vehicle production complex in Vũng Áng Economic Zone, Hà Tĩnh Province.

Under the MoU, VinEnergo will invest in, install, and operate rooftop solar systems combined with BESS at VinFast’s automobile factory in Hà Tĩnh, VinES’s battery pack and storage plant, and the high-tech energy solutions factory of V-G.

The total planned capacity for the facilities in the Vũng Áng Economic Zone is 43 MWp of rooftop solar power and 45 MWh of BESS. The systems are expected to generate nearly 50 million kWh annually, reducing more than 33,000 tons of CO₂ emissions per year. This initiative aligns with Vingroup’s commitment to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040.

Integrating BESS with rooftop solar power will enhance renewable energy storage and utilization, thereby increasing the share of clean electricity used at the plants. The BESS technology, researched and manufactured by VinFast in line with international safety and quality standards, makes VinEnergo the first enterprise in Vietnam to deploy large-scale BESS solutions.

With the combined rollout of solar and BESS at the three plants, VinEnergo also becomes the first company in Vietnam to implement a direct power purchase agreement (DPPA) model that incorporates solar power with BESS. This model supports the government’s policies promoting renewable energy while advancing the goal of greening industrial production.

Nguyen Huong Giang, Deputy General Director of VinEnergo, said:
“We are proud to provide comprehensive green energy solutions for the automobile and battery manufacturing plants of VinFast, VinES, and V-G. This project not only reduces environmental impact but also symbolizes the determination and innovation of Vietnamese enterprises in pioneering new technologies to achieve the nation’s Net Zero target.”

The project at the Vũng Áng Economic Zone marks the beginning of VinEnergo’s broader strategy to supply comprehensive clean energy solutions to partners and enterprises across Vietnam. It also reinforces the commitment of VinFast, VinES, and V-G to building a green production and transportation value chain, contributing to the country’s sustainable development goals.
