Morocco has inaugurated its first floating solar power plant with a production capacity of 13 MW, marking a significant step in the Kingdom’s clean energy transition. The facility, located on the Oued Rmel dam reservoir, will supply green electricity to the Tangier Med port complex while also reducing water evaporation from the reservoir.
The project supports Morocco’s goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2030 by expanding renewable energy adoption and cutting greenhouse gas emissions. Officials highlighted that the initiative not only advances sustainable power generation but also contributes to water conservation, aligning with the country’s dual priorities of energy security and resource preservation.
This milestone reinforces Morocco’s position as a regional leader in renewable energy, following its series of successful solar and wind projects.
