Enphase Energy Opens U.S. Pre-Orders For IQ9N-3P™ Commercial Microinverter, Its First Powered By Gallium Nitride Technology

Enphase Energy, Inc., a global energy technology company and the world’s leading supplier of microinverter-based solar and battery systems, has announced the opening of U.S. pre-orders for its new IQ9N-3P™ Commercial Microinverter. This marks Enphase’s first microinverter powered by gallium nitride (GaN) technology, designed for three-phase 480Y/277 V (wye) grid configurations without requiring external transformers.

The IQ9N-3P is engineered to simplify design, reduce installation and system costs, and deliver higher efficiency for commercial solar projects. By leveraging GaN technology instead of traditional silicon, the product offers faster switching, cooler operation, and enhanced long-term reliability. It achieves an industry-leading efficiency of 97.5% and supports solar panels up to 600 W, handling continuous DC currents of 16 amperes and delivering up to 427 VA of peak output power. With features such as rapid shutdown, phase balancing, voltage and frequency ride-through, and loss-of-phase detection, the IQ9N-3P meets strict grid safety standards, including UL 1741-SB and IEEE 1547-2018.

The microinverter is designed for flexibility, making it suitable for both small systems under 100 kW and large systems scaling into hundreds of kW. It also enables panel-level energy optimization under shaded or uneven conditions, improving performance in complex commercial rooftop environments with obstructions or multi-tenant layouts. By converting DC to AC at each panel, the system eliminates high-voltage DC runs, creating a safer all-AC rooftop architecture. Asset owners also benefit from lower long-term operational costs, simplified replacement, and per-panel monitoring through the Enphase® App.

Manufactured with domestic content in U.S. facilities, the IQ9N-3P helps projects qualify for federal domestic content bonus tax credits and complies with Buy America and Build America, Buy America Acts, making it eligible for federal infrastructure projects. The microinverter connects to the IQ® Gateway Commercial Pro, which acts as the system’s communication and control hub. The gateway supports real-time monitoring, energy management, firmware updates, and advanced grid services with flexible connectivity options.

Enphase is backing the IQ9N-3P Commercial Microinverter with a 25-year limited warranty, while the IQ Gateway Commercial Pro carries a 15-year warranty. Pre-orders are now open through Enphase’s distribution partners, with production shipments expected to begin in December 2025. The company will showcase the IQ9N-3P, IQ Gateway Commercial Pro, and other innovations—including its 4th-generation Enphase Energy System with IQ® Battery 10C, IQ® Combiner 6C, IQ® Meter Collar, as well as the IQ® EV Charger 2 and IQ® PowerPack 1500 portable energy system—at RE+ 2025, scheduled from September 8–11, 2025, in Las Vegas.
