SMA Solar Technology AG and Create Energy have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to expand localized clean energy solutions for the United States market. This agreement marks the beginning of a strategic partnership between two well-known leaders in renewable energy, with a shared goal of accelerating the clean energy transition through innovation, manufacturing, and advanced inverter and skid products.
As part of the collaboration, SMA and Create Energy will jointly manufacture the Sunny Highpower PEAK3 string inverter and the fully integrated PowerSkid solution in the United States. The PowerSkid is engineered for utility-scale projects and is capable of delivering more than 2 megawatts of power per block as a turnkey solution. Manufacturing operations are scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2026 at Create Energy’s main facility in Portland, Tennessee. This milestone represents the first time in over a decade that SMA Solar Technology AG will produce inverters within the United States.
The Sunny Highpower PEAK3 series is known for its high performance and scalability, making it a suitable choice for large-scale photovoltaic installations. Local manufacturing of these products will reduce supply chain dependencies, shorten delivery times, and improve service and support for customers. These benefits align with both companies’ belief that the energy transition should be supported by resilient and responsive domestic manufacturing capabilities.
In addition to production, the MOU outlines plans for joint sales and business development activities to strengthen their position in the U.S. clean energy market. This approach is expected to provide long-term economic benefits, create opportunities for growth, and promote energy independence. Jay Arghestani, managing director of large-scale sales, technology, and marketing for SMA America, emphasized that the collaboration reflects SMA’s strong and ongoing commitment to the U.S. market. He expressed pride in partnering with Create Energy and its founder, Dean Solon, highlighting their shared vision for a sustainable energy future and their ability to deliver smart, scalable solutions.
Dean Solon, founder and chief executive officer of Create Energy, noted his long-standing relationship with SMA and praised the company as both an industry leader and a strong partner. He stated that the partnership would advance renewable energy efforts in the United States and deliver inverters and skids built in America. Solon added that by combining their complementary strengths, SMA and Create Energy are well positioned to bring meaningful change to the energy sector.
