The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), a department under the Government of India, has released the first revision of its Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) for solar PV cells, dated 23rd September 2025. This revision follows the initial ALMM List-II for Solar PV Cells issued on 31st July 2025. The ALMM serves as an official directory of approved solar PV cell models and their manufacturers, aiming to ensure quality, reliability, and standardization in the expanding solar energy sector in India. The memorandum, signed by Scientist-D Priya, was also forwarded to the Director of Technical, NIC, MNRE, for online publication on the ministryโs website, making it accessible to all stakeholders.
The revised ALMM includes several key solar cell manufacturers in India, along with details of their approved models and technical specifications. Among the manufacturers listed is M/s. TP Solar Ltd., with a primary unit in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, has an enlisted capacity of 4,480 MWs per year. The company is approved for its Mono Crystalline PERC Bifacial Solar cell, which has an average efficiency of 23.25% and an average wattage of 7.69 W, with efficiency ranging from 22% to 23.70%. TP Solar is also listed for its Mono Crystalline TOPCon Bifacial Solar cell, with an average efficiency of 23.30%. Additionally, TP Solarโs Bengaluru unit in Karnataka is approved with capacities of 53 MWs per year and 280 MWs per year for their Bifacial Mono c-Si PERC Cells.
M/s. Emmvee Energy Pvt. Ltd., located in Karnataka, is included with an enlisted capacity of 1,553 MWs per year. Their Bifacial N-Type TOPCon Cell has an average efficiency of 24.62% and a wattage of 8.24 W. Premier Energies Photovoltaic Pvt Ltd in Telangana is also on the list, with two separate listed capacities of 751 MWs and 1,174 MWs per year for their Bifacial Mono c-Si PERC Cells.
The list further includes M/s. Mundra Solar Energy Limited and M/s. Mundra Solar PV Limited, both based in Gujarat. Mundra Solar Energy is approved with a capacity of 1,939 MWs per year for their Bifacial Mono c-Si PERC Cells, reporting an average efficiency of 23.43%. Mundra Solar PV Limited has a capacity of 1,893 MWs per year for their Bifacial N-Type TOPCon Cells, with an average efficiency of 25.27%. M/s. ReNew Photovoltaics Pvt Ltd, also in Gujarat, is listed with a capacity of 1,766 MWs per year for their Bifacial Mono c-Si PERC Cells.
M/s. Jupiter International Limited has two units in Himachal Pradesh, including the ALMM. Unit 1 has a capacity of 339 MWs, while Unit 2 has 440 MWs, both approved for their Mono PERC Bifacial Solar Cell with an average efficiency of 23.10%. Another company, M/s. FS India Solar Ventures Private Limited in Tamil Nadu is listed with a capacity of 3,212 MWs. This company was already part of ALMM List-I for solar PV modules, and as per a previous order from December 2024, it is automatically eligible for inclusion in the solar PV cells list.
The validity period for most approvals in the revised list is from September 2025 to September 2029, providing a clear reference for businesses, developers, and consumers. This updated ALMM is expected to further strengthen the standardization, quality assurance, and transparency in Indiaโs rapidly growing solar sector, supporting both domestic manufacturing and project development across the country.
