SJVN Awards 1,500 MW/6000 MWh FDRE RE Storage Auction At ₹6.74–₹6.75/Kwh To Sembcorp Green Infra, Reliance NU Energies, Solarcraft Power, ACME Solar

SJVN Limited has completed its auction for a large-scale energy storage project aimed at supplying 6,000 MWh of assured peak power from ISTS-connected FDRE renewable energy projects. The capacity of the project is 1,500 MW with four hours of storage, highlighting India’s growing focus on combining renewable energy with energy storage systems (ESS). The auction was conducted through a tariff-based competitive bidding process, which attracted strong participation from multiple developers, signaling increased interest in firm and dispatchable renewable energy (FDRE) in the country.

The auction resulted in a lowest discovered tariff of ₹6.74 per kWh, with other competitive bids going up to ₹6.75 per unit. Four companies emerged as winners in the process. Sembcorp Green Infra and Reliance NU Energies were the L1 bidders, offering power at ₹6.74 per kWh. Solarcraft Power India and ACME Solar Holdings also secured winning positions with bids at ₹6.75 per kWh.

In terms of capacity allocation, Sembcorp Green Infra quoted 150 MW, Reliance NU Energies 750 MW, Solarcraft Power India 150 MW, and ACME Solar Holdings 450 MW. This marks a significant milestone for India’s energy storage sector, demonstrating both investor confidence and the country’s growing momentum in renewable energy integration.

SJVN has now issued a Request for Selection (RfS) to invite proposals for the development of these projects on a Build-Own-Operate (BOO) basis. The move is expected to strengthen grid stability by providing assured peak power while supporting India’s clean energy transition and long-term renewable energy targets. This auction reflects the increasing viability of renewable energy paired with storage and is a key step toward scaling energy storage solutions in India.
