Premier Energies Limited, one of India’s leading renewable energy companies, has announced the signing of definitive agreements to acquire a 51% ownership stake in Transcon Ind Limited, a Hyderabad-based transformer manufacturer. The total value of the acquisition is INR 500.3 crores. This marks Premier Energies’ strategic entry into the transformer manufacturing sector, an area witnessing rapid growth due to the expansion of renewable power capacity and increasing electrification across the country.
Transcon Ind Limited, established in 2003 and promoted by Mr. Amar Pal Gampa and Mr. Nagaraju Bandaru, is an ISO-certified manufacturer known for producing energy-efficient transformers and stabilizers. The company manufactures a wide range of products, including solar inverter transformers (33 kV), distribution transformers (33 kV, 11 kV, 6.6 kV, 3.3 kV), and specialty transformers designed for both power distribution and industrial clients.
At present, Transcon operates with a production capacity of 2.5 GVA per annum, which is being expanded to 4.25 GVA by January 2026 through a ₹40 crore capacity enhancement project. This expansion will enable the company to introduce higher value-added products such as dry type and inverter duty transformers. In addition, through its subsidiary, Neotrafo Solutions India Private Limited, Transcon is establishing a 10 GVA medium voltage (MV), high voltage (HV), and extra-high voltage (EHV) transformer manufacturing facility in Hyderabad. This project, with an estimated capital expenditure of ₹181 crores, is expected to become operational by June 2026. For the financial year 2025, Transcon reported revenues of ₹263.5 crores.
Commenting on the acquisition, Mr. Chiranjeev Saluja, Managing Director and CEO of Premier Energies Limited, said, “This investment marks Premier Energies’ foray into the fast-growing transformer business on the back of surging renewable power capacity addition and growing electrification of the economy. The acquisition allows us to move further downstream, offering integrated and bundled solutions to power producers, DISCOMs, and industrial customers, while shifting focus toward the higher-value MV, HV, and EHV segments over time.”
This acquisition represents a significant milestone in Premier Energies’ long-term vision of becoming a fully integrated clean energy solutions provider. By entering the transformer manufacturing segment, the company expands its presence across the renewable energy value chain—from solar power generation and energy storage to power evacuation. The move not only strengthens Premier Energies’ market position but also reinforces its commitment to driving India’s clean energy transition and building a sustainable energy ecosystem for the future.
