Swift Solar, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), has successfully completed a groundbreaking demonstration of its U.S.-manufactured perovskite tandem solar technology during the DoD’s Cyber Fortress exercise in Virginia Beach, Virginia, this August. The event marked one of the first real-world deployments of perovskite solar technology in the United States, showcasing the commercial readiness and resilience potential of Swift Solar’s advanced solar solutions.
Integrated within the Rapid Deployment Hybrid MicroGrid (RDHM) developed by Resilient Energy & Infrastructure, Swift Solar’s high-efficiency perovskite tandem modules supplied clean power alongside two additional energy sources during the cyber defense exercise. The system supported critical operations while demonstrating the role of advanced solar technology in enhancing secure, distributed energy systems for national defense.
The exercise brought together DoD leadership, Army operational energy experts, and private-sector partners, including Amazon Web Services (AWS), to evaluate next-generation operational energy technologies. The successful deployment underscores Swift Solar’s capability to deliver innovative solar solutions that strengthen energy resilience and security for defense and critical infrastructure applications.
Joel Jean, CEO of Swift Solar, said, “Partnering with the DoD at Cyber Fortress validates our US-made perovskite solar technology in real-world defense conditions and underscores Swift Solar’s potential as a key provider of ultra-efficient, next-generation solar solutions for the US government and beyond.”
Paul Maloney, CEO of Resilient Energy & Infrastructure, commented , “For our mobile RDHMs, where space, weight, and agility are mission-critical factors for operational energy, we envision Swift Solar’s perovskite as vastly increasing the energy density we can deploy, while enhancing energy resilience for military operations.”
