Saudi Arabia’s Principal Buyer, under the supervision of the Ministry of Energy, has awarded Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for five major renewable energy projects—four solar photovoltaic (PV) plants and one wind energy project—with a combined capacity of 4,500 megawatts (MW). The initiative reinforces the Kingdom’s strategic commitment to expanding clean energy infrastructure and achieving some of the world’s lowest levelized costs of energy.
The awarded projects are geographically distributed across key provinces to maximize regional energy diversification:
- As Sufun Solar Project – 400 MW (Hail Province)
- Dawadmi Solar Project – 1,500 MW (Riyadh Province)
- Ad Darb Solar Project – 600 MW (Jazan Province)
- Samtah Solar Project – 600 MW (Jazan Province)
- Najran Wind Project – 1,400 MW (Najran Province)
These projects represent a significant addition to Saudi Arabia’s renewable energy portfolio, supporting the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 objectives and commitment to positioning itself as a global leader in sustainable energy production.
According to the Principal Buyer, the allocation reflects ongoing efforts to deliver renewable power at globally competitive prices, further demonstrating the Kingdom’s leadership in developing advanced renewable energy infrastructure.
