The Power & Electricity Department of Mizoram has invited e-tenders for the development of multiple grid-connected solar power projects at Tumtuitlang, Serchhip Vengchung, Serchhip, Bawkmual, Hmunhmeltha, Champhai, Denlung Ram, Hnahthial, Hnahthial, Tlabung Tlang, Lallen, Mamit, Dawhzau Zau, Lamzawl, Saitual districtsย across the state. The tenders are issued by the Engineer-in-Chief on behalf of the Governor, following an earlier Expression of Interest (EoI) notification. The projects are aimed at promoting renewable energy generation within Mizoram and involve the design, construction, financing, operation, and maintenance of solar power plants over a 25-year period.

The tenders include projects of total 56 MW capacities, intended to be established at different identified locations in Mizoram. The initiative reflects the stateโ€™s growing emphasis on solar energy as a sustainable power source to meet future electricity demands and reduce dependency on conventional energy. These tenders invite firms that had submitted their EoI earlier to participate in the bidding process based on their areas of interest and capability.

The projects will be implemented under a long-term public-private partnership (PPP) framework, wherein the selected developers will undertake the full scope of work including design, procurement, financing, construction, and operation of the plants, while ensuring their efficient performance and maintenance for 25 years. This approach aims to attract private sector investment and expertise to scale up renewable energy deployment in the state.

According to the tender notices, the Engineer-in-Chief has signed off on each notice, confirming the governmentโ€™s commitment to moving forward with these projects as per the schedule outlined. The notices were issued between November 4 and November 5, 2025, signaling a coordinated state-wide rollout of multiple solar power projects. Each project will follow the same terms of reference as stated in the earlier EoI.

The government expects interested bidders to adhere strictly to the tender conditions, which ensure technical and financial robustness in project execution. The initiative is also expected to contribute significantly to Mizoramโ€™s renewable energy capacity and align with Indiaโ€™s national goal of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based power generation by 2030.
