ACCIONA Energía Wins 281 MW Renewable Energy Auction In The Philippines

ACCIONA Energía has secured a significant milestone in the Philippines by winning a 20-year power supply contract for two renewable energy projects totaling 281 MW under the Department of Energy’s Green Energy Auction Program (GEAP) Round 4. The projects include the Kalayaan 2 wind farm in Laguna, which has a capacity of 101 MW and is already under construction, and the Daanbantayan solar plant in Cebu, with 180 MWp capacity, set to begin construction before the end of 2025. This contract ensures long-term certainty for the energy these projects will produce, contributing to the Philippines’ renewable energy targets while providing clean and reliable power to consumers.

ACCIONA Energía continues to strengthen its presence in Southeast Asia, with a development pipeline of over 2 GW in the Philippines alone. The company has recently reorganized its partnerships in the region to consolidate its position in key markets, including Thailand. ACCIONA has been active in the Philippines since 2016, delivering major water and infrastructure projects such as the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) and the Putatan II and Laguna Lake water treatment plants.

Beyond its energy and infrastructure projects, ACCIONA also contributes to social development through its foundation, acciona.org. Since 2021, the foundation has been supporting rural and underserved communities in the Philippines by bringing electricity services to areas with limited or no access to the electricity grid. Through partnerships with the Ayala Foundation and the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation and Development, acciona.org has reached around 3,500 households, small businesses, and community centers, improving the quality of life and supporting local development.

With this latest auction award and ongoing projects, ACCIONA Energía is reinforcing its commitment to renewable energy growth in the Philippines and demonstrating its focus on combining sustainable energy development with social impact. The Kalayaan 2 wind farm and Daanbantayan solar plant are expected to play a key role in meeting the country’s renewable energy goals while supporting local communities.
