Waaree Group, Indiaโ€™s leading renewable energy solutions provider, today announced that it has secured a 10 MWh Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) order from a key Infrastructure Development Company to be deployed in Tamil Nadu.

This strategic win further strengthens Waaree Groupโ€™s footprint in Indiaโ€™s energy storage ecosystem and reflects the companyโ€™s growing capabilities across the clean energy value chainโ€”from solar PV manufacturing and EPC to next-generation energy storage, green hydrogen, and grid-scale infrastructure. Waaree is also rapidly expanding domestic storage manufacturing, with a 4 GWh cell production line and a 5 GWh pack-and-container facility designed to support utility-scale and C&I applications. These integrated manufacturing strengths allow the company to deliver high-quality, fully indigenous BESS solutions at scale.

Why BESS is critical for Indiaโ€™s Solar Infrastructure growth?

โ€ข A critical enabler for Indiaโ€™s solar-led growth: BESS ensures round-the-clock availability of renewable power, reducing curtailment and preventing solar assets from being under-utilized.
โ€ข Enhancing grid stability: As renewable penetration increases, storage becomes essential to smoothen intermittency, support peak demand, and avoid grid disturbances.
โ€ข Supports Indiaโ€™s Public EV Mobility transition: BESS will play a central role in powering large EV charging networks, enabling fast charging, load balancing and reducing stress on distribution infrastructure.
โ€ข Strengthening domestic energy security: With India scaling both solar capacity and battery manufacturing, storage systems are becoming a cornerstone of long-term clean-energy planning.

Tamil Naduโ€™s Renewable Push

โ€ขThestate has 20+ GW of wind and solar capacity.
โ€ข Actively scaling grid-connected BESS to integrate variable generation.
โ€ข Recently issued 1.5 GWh standalone BESS bid, signalling rapid deployment demand.

National Storage Outlook

โ€ข NEP, MNRE and CEA analyses project tens to hundreds of GWh of storage needed in the late 2020searly2030s.
โ€ข Sharp capacity ramp-up expected from FY 2026โ€“27 onward.

Speaking on the order win, Ankit Doshi, Presidentโ€“Strategy, said, โ€œThis 10 MWh BESS order is a strong endorsement of Waaree Groupโ€™s integrated capabilities and our commitment to enabling Indiaโ€™s clean-energy transition. Storage is the next frontier for renewable power, and we are investing deeply in technology, design, and manufacturing to meet the nationโ€™s growing demand for flexible, dispatchable energy. This project in Tamil Nadu reinforces our mission to build reliable, future-ready solutions that strengthen grid stability and accelerate renewable adoption at scale.โ€

With strong manufacturing capabilities, focused R&D and a comprehensive clean-energy portfolio, Waaree Group is well positioned to deliver safe, scalable and reliable BESS solutions aligned with both state priorities and national renewable integration targets. Its 4 GWh cell line and 5 GWh battery pack-and-container facility further enable Waaree to support Indiaโ€™s growing utility-scale storage needs with fully localized, high-performance systems.
