Zelestra, a global renewable energy company with a multi-technology portfolio, has secured all eight of its submitted projectsโtotalling around 60 MWโin Italyโs FER X renewable energy auction. The results were announced on 1 December 2025 by the Italian energy agency Gestore dei Servizi Energetici (GSE).
According to GSEโs publication, Zelestra achieved a 100% success rate, with 80% of the awarded projects located in Northern Italy, strengthening the companyโs position in one of the countryโs most industrially active regions. All eight solar plants are targeted to become fully operational by H1 2028.
Italy continues to be a major growth market for Zelestra. The company currently maintains a 1.4 GW development pipeline of solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects. Recently, it announced an initial offtake agreement for a 2 GWh large-scale BESS facility planned in Northern Italy.
Commenting on the milestone, Eliano Russo, Zelestraโs Country Manager for Italy, said the FER X win caps off a year of rapid progress: โThe new projects build on the two solar plants already under construction in Puglia and Sicily, expand our footprint across the Peninsula, and complement our multi-technology strategy. We aim to move swiftly into construction to deliver clean energy capacity quickly.โ
The FER X auction witnessed strong competition, attracting 818 applications representing 10 GW of solar PV capacity across Italy.
