Bareilly has emerged as one of the leading districts in Uttar Pradesh for rooftop solar adoption, installing an average of 48 new solar rooftop systems every day, according to recent state-level data. The district now ranks fourth in the state based on installation volume.
The increasing pace of installations indicates a strong shift toward renewable energy usage among residential and commercial consumers. As per official figures, Bareilly has so far completed 14,526 rooftop installations, with 877 new units added recently.

Net Metering Challenges Expected to Be Addressed
Despite the growing adoption, consumers have reported delays related to net metering approvals, which are essential for feeding surplus electricity back into the grid. Officials have confirmed that measures are underway to streamline the process and ensure timely implementation.
Authorities expect that resolving these bottlenecks will further accelerate the adoption of solar rooftop systems across the state under government-supported subsidy and renewable energy programs.
