Terranova, a newly formed hyperscale data center platform created by sustainable infrastructure investor Actis and supported by global investment firm General Atlantic, has officially launched operations in Latin America. The company plans to build energy-efficient data centers to support growing artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud infrastructure needs across Brazil, Mexico and Chile.
Terranova intends to invest approximately US$1.5 billion over the next three years to develop large-scale data center campuses across the region. The first facility, located in Querรฉtaro, Mexico, is expected to become operational in the first quarter of 2026. Additional campuses are planned in Campinas, Brazil, in 2027 and in Chile between 2027 and 2028. The company has secured land and power agreements across key sites and estimates its portfolio could eventually scale to 1 gigawatt of installed capacity.
โLatin America is entering a new cycle of digital infrastructure growth, driven by cloud, AI, and enterprise demand,โ said Terranova CEO Josรฉ Eduardo Quintella. โOur focus is on disciplined growth โ building reliable, scalable data centers that earn our clientsโ trust through delivery, efficiency, and performance.โ
Terranova will also leverage Actisโ experience in both renewable energy development and digital infrastructure projects globally, including platforms in China, South Korea and Malaysia.
โTERRANOVA builds on Actisโ proven global track record in both energy and digital infrastructure,โ said Mauricio Giusti of Actis. He added that the platform will benefit from operational collaboration across regions, enabling scalable and sustainable build-outs for major technology customers.
As part of its development strategy, Terranova plans to incorporate renewable energy sourcing and efficiency-driven design across all of its facilities. The initiative aligns with rising investor and customer expectations for low-carbon AI and cloud computing infrastructure.
The companyโs leadership team includes senior professionals with more than 150 years of combined experience in the Latin American data center sector.
โWith secured power, strategic sites, and a robust investment plan, Terranova is positioned to grow responsibly and at scale,โ said Quintella. โWeโre not just adding capacity โ weโre shaping the next generation of hyperscale data centers in Latin America.โ
