The Department of Energy (DOE), through the Renewable Energy Management Bureau, convened distribution utilities (DUs), retail electricity suppliers (RES), and generation companies (GenCos) from Visayas and Mindanao for the second leg of the 2025 Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS) Conference for On-Grid Areas held in Cagayan de Oro City.

The event, aimed at strengthening compliance with RPS mandates, focused on enhancing the capacity of energy providers to meet required renewable energy (RE) targets. Participants received program updates, technical guidance, and policy insights from experts including the Independent Electricity Market Operator of the Philippines, the National Transmission Corporation, and the Institute for Climate and Sustainable Cities.

In her keynote address, Undersecretary Rowena Cristina L. Guevara underscored the importance of RPS in the countryโ€™s clean energy transition and referred to sector participants as โ€œarchitects of energy for the masses.โ€ She noted that the conference serves as a platform to help DUs and RES adopt RE technologies more efficiently and deliver affordable and sustainable power to Filipino consumers.
