Vietnamese conglomerate Vingroup has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Telangana at the Telangana Rising Global Summit, committing a proposed USD 3 billion investment to develop a sustainable, multi-sector ecosystem in the state. The partnership emphasizes renewable energy, green infrastructure, and sustainable urban planning.
Key Renewable Energy Initiatives:
- 500 MW Solar Farm: Through its subsidiary VinEnergo, Vingroup will develop a 500 MW solar farm over 500 hectares, providing a stable source of green electricity for urban areas, industrial zones, and the electrified mobility ecosystem in Telangana.
- Sustainable Urban Development: The Vinhomes Smart City mega urban area, spanning 1,080 hectares and designed for ~200,000 residents, will adopt sustainable urban planning principles, including a limited built-up footprint and integration of renewable energy sources.
- Green Infrastructure: Planned social infrastructure on ~70 hectares will include Vinmec hospitals and V-Green electric vehicle charging networks, supporting the state’s transition to clean energy and net-zero urban development.
- Energy-Linked Mobility: While primarily an electric mobility initiative, the project integrates renewable energy generation and charging infrastructure, creating a self-sustaining green ecosystem.
Government Support:
The Telangana government will assist with land allocation, project structuring, master planning, administrative approvals, and connecting infrastructure, and may provide incentives aligned with existing renewable energy policies.
Statements from Leaders:
- Sri A. Revanth Reddy, Chief Minister of Telangana, highlighted, “Vingroup’s USD 3 billion investment is a strong vote of confidence in Telangana’s renewable energy and sustainable development vision, supporting net-zero cities and green infrastructure.”
- Mr. Pham Sanh Chau, CEO of Vingroup Asia and VinFast Asia, added, “Our renewable energy and sustainable urban development projects in Telangana will generate tangible value, promote clean energy adoption, and enhance the quality of life for residents.”
