NTPC Limited, a Government of India enterprise, has announced an increase in its renewable energy capacity following the declaration of the Commercial Operation Date (COD) for a portion of a wind power project. The announcement was made through a disclosure by Executive Director (Finance) Aditya Dar to the National Stock Exchange of India Limited and BSE Limited on December 10, 2025, under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015. The disclosure included a submission dated December 9, 2025, from its subsidiary, NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL).
According to the subsidiaryโs update, a part capacity of 6.6 MW from a wind power project was declared on commercial operation, effective from December 11, 2025. This project is part of a larger 100 MW hybrid renewable energy initiative located in Bhuj, Gujarat. The 6.6 MW capacity belongs to Ayana Renewable Power Four Private Limited, which is a subsidiary of Ayana Renewable Power Private Limited, itself wholly owned by the joint venture ONGC NTPC Green Private Limited. This development highlights NTPCโs continued focus on expanding its renewable energy portfolio, particularly in wind power, which forms a key component of the companyโs sustainability and clean energy transition strategy.
With the addition of this 6.6 MW capacity, NTPC Green Energy Limited has updated its total commercial capacity to 7,639.075 MW. The total installed capacity of NGEL has now increased to 7,645.675 MW. For the larger NTPC Group, this addition means that its total installed and commercial capacity has reached 84,931 MW. The incremental capacity, though a part of a larger hybrid project, reinforces NTPCโs commitment to integrating renewable energy into its overall energy mix, supporting Indiaโs clean energy and Net-Zero objectives.
NTPC Green Energy Limited continues to play a pivotal role in driving NTPCโs renewable energy ambitions. By actively commissioning wind projects and hybrid renewable installations, the company is contributing to a sustainable energy future while complementing the governmentโs vision of promoting green power generation. This focus on renewable capacity growth is part of NTPCโs broader strategy to diversify its energy portfolio, reduce carbon emissions, and strengthen the adoption of environmentally responsible energy solutions across India.
The disclosure was signed by Manish Kumar, Company Secretary and Compliance Officer of NTPC Green Energy Limited, reaffirming the companyโs transparent reporting of renewable capacity additions. NTPCโs registered office is located at NTPC Bhawan, SCOPE Complex, Lodi Road, New Delhi, with NGELโs corporate office based in NETRA Complex, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The latest addition underscores NTPCโs ongoing efforts to expand its renewable energy footprint and consolidate its position as a leading clean energy provider in India.
