Octillion has announced the successful completion of a facility-wide transition to solar energy at one of its three battery system manufacturing plants in India, marking a significant step in the company’s sustainability roadmap. The factory now operates entirely on 100% carbon-free power, reinforcing Octillion’s commitment to the full life cycle sustainability of its electric vehicle (EV) battery systems.
The converted facility is the first among Octillion’s India operations to achieve complete reliance on solar energy. The milestone forms part of a broader initiative to make all of the company’s India-based manufacturing facilities carbon neutral through solar power generation by 2027.
Commenting on the development, Paul Beach, Global President of Octillion, said the transition reflects the company’s intent to support India’s rapidly expanding EV market in a sustainable manner. He noted that producing energy storage solutions using clean energy is central to Octillion’s long-term environmental strategy.
The facility spans approximately 8,200 square metres and has an annual battery production capacity of around 3 GWh, catering to India’s fast-growing EV sector. The newly installed rooftop solar system is expected to generate about 545 MWh of clean electricity annually, fully meeting the plant’s power requirements.
Inaugurated in June 2023, the Pune manufacturing unit began its solar conversion in June 2024 and achieved full solar-powered operations by July 2025, completing the transition within 13 months.
Nikhil Parchure, Senior Vice President at Octillion, said the company’s focus on clean and efficient transportation aligns with India’s EV ambitions. He highlighted that Octillion operates three large-scale battery manufacturing facilities in the country—two in Pune and one in Gujarat—supported by a decade-long effort to build a reliable domestic supply chain for India’s automotive sector.
Octillion stated that it will continue to scale its sustainability initiatives in India and globally, with a focus on delivering advanced and safe battery systems while minimising environmental impact across the transportation value chain.
