Recurrent Energy has secured Development Consent Order (DCO) approval for its Tillbridge Solar and Battery Storage Project in Lincolnshire, marking a significant milestone for one of the United Kingdomโs largest co-located renewable energy developments.
The hybrid project will combine 800 MW of solar photovoltaic capacity with 500 MW / 1,000 MWh of battery energy storage, positioning Tillbridge among the largest solar-and-storage sites in the UK. Once operational, the project is expected to generate more than 857 GWh of clean electricity annually, sufficient to power nearly 300,000 homes.
The project is designed to support the UKโs transition to a reliable, low-carbon energy system by enhancing grid flexibility and improving energy security. In addition to clean power generation, the development is expected to deliver long-term environmental and socio-economic benefits, including significant carbon dioxide emissions reductions, local job creation, and biodiversity enhancements.
Recurrent Energy said the approval underscores its ongoing commitment to delivering large-scale renewable infrastructure projects that contribute to national decarbonisation goals and promote a more sustainable energy future.
