Eurowind Energy has announced the start of construction on two new solar projects in Portugal, Esgueira and Avanca, which together form part of the TRC Aveiro development. The beginning of on-site works marks an important milestone as the projects move from planning into active delivery.

The larger of the two projects, Avanca, has an alternating current capacity of 17.25 MW. At this site, Eurowind Energy’s construction team will install a total of 20.13 MWp of solar capacity, using 30,968 solar panels. Once fully operational, Avanca is expected to generate approximately 37.4 gigawatt-hours of electricity each year. This output is sufficient to meet the annual electricity needs of around 10,700 households, contributing significantly to the supply of renewable energy in the region.

Alongside Avanca, construction is also underway at the Esgueira solar project, which has an alternating current capacity of 5 MW. The Esgueira site will feature an installed capacity of 6 MWp, delivered through 8,256 solar panels. When operational, the project is expected to produce about 9.7 gigawatt-hours of renewable electricity annually, enough to cover the energy consumption of approximately 2,800 homes.

Both solar projects are progressing according to plan and are advancing at full pace. Eurowind Energy expects construction to be completed and the plants to begin supplying clean electricity to the grid in 2026. In addition to supporting the energy transition, the company has highlighted the positive experience of working on well-located and visually appealing sites as development continues.
