The new ownership of Energy Solutions is supported by both industry expertise and current employees, several of whom will continue with the business as co-owners. This structure ensures operational continuity, stability, and the maintenance of strong relationships with existing customers. Hydro Rein pursues a long-term ownership strategy, focusing on the growth of its renewable energy portfolio through selective acquisitions and development projects. The company is expanding its presence across the Nordics and Europe, with a strategic emphasis on large-scale renewable assets that serve industrial power demand.
Following a period of organizational adjustments designed to strengthen the company in a challenging market, Hydro Rein is now concentrating its resources on projects with greater scale and portfolio significance. Energy Solutions specializes in providing behind-the-meter energy solutions for industrial clients, including rooftop solar installations and battery systems. Under the new ownership, Energy Solutions will operate as an independent company, with a clear focus on optimizing operations and sustaining long-term growth.
Astrid Martinsen, Interim CEO of Hydro Rein, explained that Hydro Rein has acted as an incubator for Energy Solutions, and the company is now ready to take the next step as a standalone entity. She noted that the transaction provides a solid foundation for the company’s future growth, while allowing Hydro Rein to concentrate on large-scale renewable energy projects and exit a non-core business with limited synergies.
Marianne Wergeland Jenssen, Head of Energy Solutions, emphasized that the transition ensures reliable operations and strong service delivery for customers. She added that both the company’s customers and its assets will be well-supported as Energy Solutions continues to develop under the new ownership.
Global Green Group, a Norway-based investment group led by Peer Brantzeg, focuses on technologies and solutions that advance the green transition in the industrial sector. Brantzeg stated that Energy Solutions, with its established customer base, proven solutions, and profitable assets across multiple markets, provides a strong platform for scalable growth.
He highlighted significant untapped potential in small-scale energy production and efficiency solutions within industrial facilities, which Global Green Group intends to actively deploy to help companies maximize the value of their on-site energy resources. It is noted that the Energy Solutions assets at the Hydro Vigeland aluminium refinery in Norway are not included in this transaction.
