The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is highlighting its landmark clean energy, sustainability and digital innovation projects during its participation in the World Future Energy Summit 2026, being held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) from 13 to 15 January 2026.
Hosted by Masdar, the summit provides a global platform for advancing renewable energy and sustainability solutions. DEWA’s participation underscores its commitment to accelerating clean energy adoption, deploying Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies, and reinforcing the UAE’s leadership in sustainable development.
Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park
At its stand, DEWA is showcasing a model of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the world’s largest single-site solar park operating under the independent power producer (IPP) model. The park’s installed capacity has reached 3,860 MW and is set to exceed 8,000 MW by 2030, a 60% increase over the original plan.
Clean energy now accounts for over 21.5% of DEWA’s total installed capacity, a share expected to rise to 36% by 2030, supporting the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 Strategy, the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050. The solar park alone is expected to reduce more than 8.5 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually.
Al Shera’a – DEWA’s Net-Positive Headquarters
DEWA is also presenting Al Shera’a, its new headquarters in Al Jaddaf, designed to become the tallest, largest and smartest net-positive government building in the world. The building is targeting LEED Platinum and WELL Gold certifications and will integrate advanced renewable energy systems alongside IoT, big data analytics and artificial intelligence to achieve exceptional energy efficiency.
Sustainability, R&D and Innovation
The Sustainability and Innovation Centre, located within the solar park, is being highlighted as a global incubator for clean energy technologies and sustainability awareness. The centre provides interactive exhibitions, professional training programmes and innovation initiatives aimed at developing leadership in renewable energy, including capacity-building for Emiratis.
DEWA’s Research and Development Centre is also featured, with a focus on solar power, smart grids, energy efficiency and water technologies. The centre has registered 64 patents, including 18 granted patents, covering areas such as concentrated solar power, energy storage, electric vehicles, robotics, unmanned aerial vehicles, 3D printing and data analytics.
EV Green Charger and AI-powered services
DEWA is showcasing its EV Green Charger initiative, launched in 2014 as the region’s first public electric vehicle charging network. The utility now operates more than 1,700 EV charging points across Dubai, including ultra-fast, fast, public and wall-box chargers.
In addition, Moro Hub, a subsidiary of Digital DEWA, is presenting AI-powered security, cloud computing and green data centre solutions. These services support smart, sustainable digital transformation while reducing carbon footprints, reinforcing DEWA’s role in integrating clean energy with advanced digital infrastructure.
DEWA said its participation at the summit reflects its integrated approach to sustainability, combining large-scale renewable energy deployment, smart technologies and innovation to support the UAE’s long-term clean energy and net-zero ambitions.
