The Indian Electrical & Electronics Manufacturers’ Association (IEEMA) today inaugurated the first edition of the Telangana Power Conclave in Hyderabad. The event, the first of its kind in the state, was inaugurated by Shri Navin Mittal, Special Chief Secretary to the Government of Telangana, Energy Department. The Telangana Power Conclave marks the sixth in a series of State Power Conclaves launched by IEEMA to strengthen regional engagement with industry and highlight the business potential across Indian states.
Speaking at the event, Shri Navin Mittal highlighted the state’s focus on expanding its renewable energy capacities, including solar, wind, and energy storage solutions such as battery energy storage systems (BESS) and pumped storage plants (PSP). He said that while states like Gujarat and Rajasthan lead India in wind and solar capacity, Telangana aims to establish itself as the country’s PSP capital. He also emphasized the strengthening of transmission and distribution networks and noted the growing role of data centres as major drivers of power demand, supported by strong government policies.
Shri Mittal further added that initiatives like the Telangana Power Conclave provide a crucial platform to connect government vision with industry execution. He highlighted that Telangana is on track to become a $3 trillion economy by 2047, with the energy sector expected to grow at 10% annually. Installed power capacity is projected to increase five-fold, while power consumption is expected to rise from the current 95 TWh to nearly 780 TWh by 2047, with planning aligned to meet this growth.
Shri Vikram Gandotra, President of IEEMA, spoke about Telangana’s growth potential, describing the state as a “powerhouse of economic vitality” and India’s 9th largest state economy. He praised the Telangana government’s Clean and Green Energy Policy, noting its transformative effect on the state’s infrastructure and commended the sustained strategic investments by both the government and industry.
Shri Siddharth Bhutoria, IEEMA President-Elect, emphasized the state’s rapid progress in expanding power access and achieving ambitious renewable energy targets. He highlighted that Telangana’s efforts demonstrate how innovation and commitment can drive both industrial and social development.
The conclave focused on state-specific opportunities and challenges, Telangana’s roadmap for 2047, renewable energy, green data centres, and the resilience of the transmission and distribution grid. The event included technical sessions, policy discussions, dialogues, and networking opportunities, aimed at capacity building and showcasing innovative technologies and solutions. Over 300 participants attended, reflecting strong interest in the state’s growing energy sector.
