IEW 2026 in Goa to Drive Global Energy Partnerships as India Pushes Security, Decarbonisation and Investment-Led Growth

India Energy Week (IEW) 2026, scheduled to be held from January 27โ€“30, 2026, at ONGC ATI, Goa, will bring together global energy ministers, industry leaders, policymakers, financial institutions, academia and technology providers at a critical juncture for the global energy sector, Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Shri Hardeep Singh Puri said on Thursday.

Addressing the Curtain Raiser Press Conference for IEW 2026, Shri Puri described the event as the first major international energy gathering of the year, noting that it will focus on strengthening energy security, catalysing investment, and advancing practical decarbonisation pathways.

Highlighting the growing global stature of the platform, the Minister said India Energy Week has expanded significantly year-on-year since its inception. While the inaugural edition in 2023 attracted around 30,000 delegates and 316 exhibitors, participation increased to over 45,000 attendees in 2024 and 68,000 in 2025.

IEW 2026 is expected to be the largest edition to date, with more than 75,000 delegates, over 600 exhibitors, including 180 international exhibitors, more than 500 global speakers, and 120+ conference sessions. Shri Puri said the scale and diversity of participation underscore Indiaโ€™s rising leadership role in shaping the global energy dialogue.

The Minister informed that 17 Ministers and Deputy Ministers from countries including the UAE, Canada, the Netherlands, Oman, Brunei, Myanmar and Tanzania, among others, have confirmed their participation. International organisations such as the International Energy Forum, BIMSTEC and the Eurasian Economic Union will also take part in the event.

The exhibition at IEW 2026 will be organised across 11 thematic zones, hosted by leading public sector undertakings. These will cover areas such as digitalisation and artificial intelligence, hydrogen, renewable energy, petrochemicals, biofuels, LNG ecosystem, city gas distribution, Make in India initiatives and net-zero solutions. New additions for the 2026 edition include a Nuclear Energy Zone and a Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Zone.

Referring to the conference programme, Shri Puri said IEW 2026 will be structured around 10 strategic themes aligned with global energy priorities and Indiaโ€™s evolving leadership role. The conference will feature four ministerial sessions, including the inaugural session bringing together energy ministers and senior policymakers, along with 47 leadership and spotlight panel discussions involving global industry leaders and experts. In addition, five Energy Talks will be held as one-on-one conversations with senior global energy leaders focusing on technology, markets and sustainability.

Emphasising the Governmentโ€™s focus on indigenisation, the Minister said a dedicated Make in India and Indigenisation Pavilion, led by Engineers India Limited, will promote collaboration with MSMEs, vendors and start-ups to support the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat through localisation of critical equipment. The Pavilion will also host daily Energy Talks on technology-led transformation and sustainability. Further strengthening international engagement, 11 country pavilions, including those from Japan, the US, Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, Norway, Canada, Russia and China, will be featured at the event.

Shri Puri stated that India Energy Week 2026 will serve as a platform for tangible business outcomes, with several major agreements and memoranda of understanding proposed to be signed during the event. These include shipbuilding contracts involving ONGC, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines of Japan and Samsung Heavy Industries of South Korea; a term contract between BPCL and Petrobras for Brazilian crude oil supply; collaboration agreements between BPRL and Shell for global upstream opportunities; MoUs involving OIL, NRL and TotalEnergies for LNG sourcing; and a partnership between NRL and TotalEnergies to establish a 200 KTPA Sustainable Aviation Fuel project at Paradip, Odisha.

Highlighting the importance of high-level engagement, the Minister said a series of key side events and roundtables will be organised alongside the main conference. These include the 9th Prime Ministerโ€™s Roundtable, where the Honโ€™ble Prime Minister will interact with global CEOs and senior leaders from Indian public and private sector enterprises, underscoring Indiaโ€™s commitment to fostering strategic partnerships and investment-led growth in the energy sector.

Other major side events will include the Indiaโ€“Arab Energy Dialogue, co-chaired with the International Energy Forum; the Indiaโ€“Japan Energy Roundtable; Indiaโ€“Iceland Roundtable focusing on geothermal energy and carbon capture, utilisation and storage; Indiaโ€“Netherlands Energy Roundtable; and engagements with USIBC and USISPF aimed at strengthening Indiaโ€“US trade and investment ties in the energy sector.

The Minister added that IEW 2026 will place strong emphasis on innovation and start-up participation through initiatives such as Avinya 2026 โ€“ the Startup Challenge, Vasudha 3.0 with global participation, and the Hackathon Challenge 2026, involving IITs and focused on critical energy sector challenges including AI-based exploration, energy efficiency, hydrogen economy and circular economy.

Several key knowledge products will also be launched during the event, including a white paper on Biofuels Financing, a Sustainable Aviation Fuel microsite, and the India Bioenergy Outlook 2030, to be released by the International Energy Agency (IEA) and PPAC, supporting informed policymaking and investment decisions.

Concluding his address, Shri Puri said India Energy Week 2026 reflects Indiaโ€™s commitment to balancing energy security, economic growth and sustainability, while positioning the country as a key global energy hub and a credible voice in the global energy transition.
