Honeywell has announced that SAF One Energy Management Limited (SAF One) will deploy Honeywell UOPโs Ecofiningโข process technology to produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), marking a key step in the companyโs plans to expand SAF production globally, including in India.
Tata Projects Limited (TPL), the engineering and construction arm of the Tata Group, has been appointed as the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) partner for the project. Honeywell and TPL will jointly deliver an integrated solution tailored to SAF Oneโs technical and project requirements.
Honeywell UOPโs Ecofining process technology, developed in collaboration with Eni S.p.A., enables the conversion of waste fats, oils, and greases into renewable diesel and SAF. The technology is designed to be both capital- and cost-efficient, offering flexibility in processing a wide range of feedstocks, including used cooking oil (UCO).
The collaboration supports SAF Oneโs strategy to develop multiple SAF production units worldwide. By using Ecofining technology, SAF One aims to convert waste oils and fats into sustainable aviation fuel, helping the aviation sector reduce lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions and advance decarbonisation goals.
Rajesh Gattupalli, President of Honeywell UOP, said the Ecofining technology expands feedstock options and enables producers to respond to changing market and resource conditions, while improving the economic feasibility of SAF production. He added that the project highlights Honeywellโs capability to support large-scale renewable fuel production.
Rajiv Menon, President and Chief Operating Officer โ Energy and Industrial Business at Tata Projects Limited, said the partnership demonstrates the importance of early engineering integration and disciplined execution in delivering scalable SAF projects, combining technology excellence with constructability and lifecycle efficiency.
Deepak Munganahalli, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of SAF One, said the collaboration aligns with the companyโs โdesign one, build manyโ approach and strengthens its ability to offer scalable, long-term decarbonisation solutions to customers.
Honeywell and Tata Projects are jointly optimising the technology configuration to reduce capital expenditure, accelerate project timelines, and align delivery with SAF Oneโs global deployment strategy. The partnership supports Indiaโs climate ambitions as well as global efforts to reduce emissions from aviation, while reinforcing Honeywellโs position as a leading provider of SAF technologies.
