NLC India Limited has completed the commissioning of its 300 MW Barsingsar Solar Power Project in Rajasthan, marking an important step in the companyโs renewable energy journey. The third and final phase of the project, with a capacity of 141.17 MW, has been successfully commissioned and declared commercially operational with effect from January 24, 2026. The part commissioning certificate for this phase was issued by the Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Limited on the same date.
The Barsingsar project is located in Barsingsar village in the Bikaner district of Rajasthan. Earlier, the first phase of 52.83 MW was declared commercially operational on August 26, 2025, followed by the second phase of 106 MW on November 2, 2025. With the commissioning of the final phase, the entire 300 MW capacity of the project is now fully operational.
Following this milestone, NLC India Limitedโs total installed renewable energy capacity has increased to 1,766 MW. At the same time, the companyโs overall installed power generation capacity, including thermal and renewable sources, has reached 7,726 MW. This further strengthens NLC India Limitedโs role in supporting Indiaโs clean energy transition and national renewable energy goals.
The Barsingsar Solar Power Project has been developed using domestically manufactured, high-efficiency solar photovoltaic modules. This aligns with the Government of Indiaโs Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, which focuses on promoting local manufacturing and reducing dependence on imports. By using Indian-made equipment, the project supports the domestic industry while contributing to long-term energy security.
All the electricity generated from the Barsingsar solar project will be supplied to the state of Rajasthan. This will help increase the stateโs renewable energy share and support its growing power demand through clean and sustainable sources. The project also contributes to national targets for renewable energy expansion and climate action.
Commenting on the achievement, Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, Chairman and Managing Director of NLC India Limited, said the successful commissioning of the full 300 MW project reflects the companyโs strong execution capabilities and commitment to clean energy. He added that the project is aligned with national priorities under the MNREโs CPSU Scheme and supports Indiaโs vision of sustainable and resilient growth.
The achievement has also received recognition at the national level. Union Minister of Coal and Mines, G. Kishan Reddy, acknowledged the commissioning of the project on social media, describing it as a meaningful step towards Indiaโs target of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030, while promoting sustainability, energy security, and self-reliance.
