Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri on Tuesday inaugurated the Hydrogen Zone at India Energy Week (IEW) 2026 in Goa, highlighting India’s growing focus on hydrogen as a key pillar of its low-carbon energy transition.
The Hydrogen Zone, hosted by Oil India, was inaugurated following the main opening ceremony of the global energy event. It features advanced hydrogen technologies and solutions spanning production, storage, and utilisation, offering insights into pathways driving clean energy transitions worldwide.
According to officials, the zone aims to demonstrate how hydrogen can help decarbonise hard-to-abate sectors such as refining, fertilisers, steel, and mobility, while positioning India as a competitive and reliable player in emerging global hydrogen markets.
The Hydrogen Zone is one of 11 strategically curated thematic zones at India Energy Week 2026. These zones form the core of the exhibition, enabling policymakers, industry leaders, investors, and technology providers to engage directly with solutions, business models, and partnership opportunities aligned with their priorities.
As part of the broader IEW exhibition, the Hydrogen Zone reinforces the event’s role as a convergence platform for technology, policy, and partnerships aimed at advancing secure, affordable, and sustainable energy outcomes for India and the global community.
India Energy Week 2026 has drawn over 75,000 energy professionals, more than 700 companies, and participants from over 120 countries. The event’s thematic zones cover key focus areas including Hydrogen, Renewable Energy, Digitalisation and AI, Biofuels, LNG Ecosystem, City Gas Distribution, Petrochemicals, Make in India, and the India Net-Zero Zone, among others.
India Energy Week is India’s flagship global energy platform, bringing together government leaders, industry executives, and innovators to accelerate progress toward a secure, sustainable, and affordable energy future through policy alignment, investment, and technological collaboration.
