H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, on Tuesday received Dr. Constantinos Kombos, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus, in Abu Dhabi, where the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a comprehensive strategic partnership in the field of energy.
During the meeting, the ministers reviewed the outcomes of the official visit of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Cyprus in December 2025, noting its role in advancing cooperation and strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries across multiple sectors.
Both sides discussed opportunities to expand collaboration in key areas, including economic, trade and investment cooperation, renewable energy and technology. Sheikh Abdullah welcomed Dr. Kombos and congratulated him on Cyprus assuming the Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2026, highlighting the importance of strong UAEโEU strategic relations.
Sheikh Abdullah reaffirmed the depth of ties between the UAE and Cyprus, describing them as based on mutual trust, respect and shared visions. He said the comprehensive strategic partnership provides a solid framework for enhancing cooperation across various fields and supporting sustainable development in both countries.
The meeting also addressed regional and international issues of mutual concern, particularly developments in the Middle East and the importance of supporting efforts to promote long-term security and stability in the region.
