NTPC Commissions 210 MW First Phase Of 1.2 GW Khavda-II Solar Project In Gujarat

NTPC Limited has announced a fresh addition to its renewable energy portfolio with the commissioning of a new solar power capacity in Gujarat. In a formal disclosure dated January 30, 2026, the company informed the Bombay Stock Exchange and the National Stock Exchange of India that the first phase of the Khavda-II Solar PV Project has achieved its Commercial Operation Date.

The project is being developed by NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, a step-down subsidiary of NTPC Limited, through NTPC Green Energy Limited. The newly commissioned capacity stands at 210 MW. This is the first phase of the Khavda-II solar project, which has been planned for a total capacity of 1,200 MW once fully completed. As per the official filing, the 210 MW capacity will be commercially operational from 00:00 hours on February 1, 2026.

With the start of operations at this project, the overall power generation capacity of the NTPC Group has increased further. After adding this solar capacity, NTPC Group’s total installed capacity will reach 87,665 MW, while its total commercial capacity will rise to 86,585 MW. This reflects the company’s steady progress in expanding its clean energy footprint alongside conventional power generation.

The disclosure also highlighted the impact of this addition on NTPC Green Energy Limited and its group companies. Following the commissioning of the 210 MW solar capacity, the NGEL Group’s commercial capacity now stands at 8,478.25 MW. At the same time, the total installed capacity of the NGEL Group has increased to 8,688.25 MW, strengthening its position in India’s renewable energy space.

The disclosures were digitally signed by Ritu Arora, Company Secretary and Compliance Officer of NTPC Limited, and Manish Kumar, Company Secretary and Compliance Officer of NTPC Green Energy Limited. The filing was made in line with SEBI’s Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements Regulations, 2015. The commissioning of this project in Gujarat highlights NTPC Group’s continued focus on scaling up renewable energy and supporting India’s long-term clean energy goals.
