Otovo has expanded its presence in the US solar sector by entering the commercial solar and storage services market through an agreement with Freedom Power. Under the deal, Otovo will acquire the rights to service the limited warranties of Freedom Powerโ€™s commercial solar portfolio, which includes more than 400 systems representing approximately 70 MW of installed capacity.

The agreement marks a strategic shift in Otovoโ€™s business focus, which has historically been centred on residential energy services. Alongside warranty servicing, Otovo will also be positioned to provide repair and maintenance services for Freedom Powerโ€™s commercial installations, as well as for selected residential customers in Colorado. Freedom Power will continue its activities in commercial and residential solar project development and installations across multiple US states.

The transaction reflects a broader trend in the US solar market, where the rapidly growing installed base of commercial systems is driving demand for specialised operations and maintenance services. As solar assets mature, system uptime, performance consistency, and long-term reliability have become increasingly important considerations for commercial asset owners.

The deal also highlights the growing role of digital monitoring and maintenance tools in managing distributed solar portfolios more efficiently. Across the sector, asset owners are increasingly adopting data-driven service models to support performance optimisation and cost control over the operational life of solar systems.

From a market perspective, the agreement underscores the evolving structure of the solar value chain, with greater emphasis on post-installation services rather than capacity additions alone. As competition intensifies in solar development, service-led business models are emerging as a key area of growth, particularly in mature markets such as the United States.
