The Solar Energy Corporation of India has successfully concluded the auction for ISTS-connected Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE-VII) peak power supply, covering a total capacity of 1,200 MW with 4,800 MWh of energy storage. The auction is seen as an important step in strengthening India’s renewable energy ecosystem, especially for meeting peak power demand through clean energy sources.
The auction was conducted through a tariff-based competitive bidding process and attracted strong interest from renewable energy developers. The discovered tariffs ranged between ₹6.27 and ₹6.28 per kilowatt-hour, showing growing confidence in renewable-based peak power solutions. Adyant Enerso, part of Datta Infra, emerged with the lowest tariff of ₹6.27 per unit. The other winning bidders quoted tariffs of ₹6.28 per unit.
Four companies were selected in the auction. These include Adyant Enerso (Datta Infra), Serentica Renewables, AMPIN Energy Utility Nine, and ACME Solar Holdings. Among them, Serentica Renewables secured the largest allocation with 600 MW at a tariff of ₹6.28 per unit. ACME Solar Holdings had bid for 600 MW but was awarded only 301 MW due to the bucket-filling method used in the allocation process.
The tender was issued in September 2026 and specifically focused on ISTS-connected renewable energy projects. These projects are designed to supply reliable renewable power during peak demand hours, helping improve grid stability and reduce dependence on conventional power sources. The selected developers are required to commission their projects within 24 months from the date of issuance of the Letter of Award.
Overall, the auction highlights the increasing maturity of India’s renewable energy market and the growing role of firm renewable power in meeting future electricity demand.
