In a major step toward strengthening Indiaโ€™s renewable energy infrastructure, ACME Solar Holdings Limited (ASHL) has announced the successful commissioning of the first phase of its Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Rajasthan. The company shared this update through a regulatory filing on February 25, 2026, submitted to BSE Limited and National Stock Exchange of India.

The project is being developed by ACME Suryodaya Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of ASHL. The facility is located across the villages of Sanwara and Mehar Nagar in Pokhran Tehsil of Jaisalmer district, Rajasthan. With the commissioning of the first phase, 19 MW/38 MWh of battery storage capacity has been activated. This is part of a much larger project planned to achieve a total capacity of 285 MW/600 MWh once fully completed.

As per the official communication signed by Company Secretary Rajesh Sodhi, the Commercial Operation Date (COD) for this initial phase has been fixed as February 27, 2026. The company stated that the commissioned capacity will currently operate as merchant capacity. This means the stored power can be sold in the open market. At the same time, ASHL has kept the option open to shift this capacity to a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) in the future, depending on market conditions and strategic considerations.

The commissioning of this battery storage project reflects ACMEโ€™s continued focus on innovation and grid support solutions. Large-scale battery systems play an important role in managing the intermittent nature of renewable energy sources like solar and wind. By storing excess energy and supplying it when required, such projects help improve grid stability and ensure a more reliable supply of clean electricity.
