Airport International Group (AIG), operator of Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA), has achieved ISO 50001:2018 Energy Management System certification, marking a significant milestone in its sustainability and operational excellence strategy.

With this certification, QAIA becomes the first airport in the Middle East to obtain ISO 50001 accreditation, setting a new regional benchmark for structured energy management. The certification, along with the renewal of four other ISO standards under the airportโ€™s Integrated Management System, was completed in collaboration with Bureau Veritas โ€“ Jordan.

The ISO 50001 standard recognises AIGโ€™s systematic and data-driven approach to monitoring, controlling and reducing energy consumption across airport operations. The framework is designed to enhance operational efficiency while supporting long-term environmental and financial sustainability.

In addition to ISO 50001, QAIA successfully renewed certifications for Quality Management (ISO 9001), Environmental Management (ISO 14001), Occupational Health and Safety Management (ISO 45001), and Complaints Handling (ISO 10002), reaffirming compliance with internationally recognised standards.

Nicolas Deviller, Chief Executive Officer of Airport International Group, said the achievement reflects the companyโ€™s commitment to operational excellence, sustainability and responsible growth. He noted that integrating ISO 50001 into the airportโ€™s broader management framework strengthens efficiency, resilience and long-term stakeholder value.

The certification builds on QAIAโ€™s broader sustainability initiatives, including the deployment of an on-site solar farm and the electrification of airport vehicles. It also complements the airportโ€™s renewed Level 4+ certification under the Airports Council International (ACI) Asia-Pacific and Middle East Airport Carbon Accreditation Program, valid through 2028.

AIG said the combined achievements reinforce QAIAโ€™s leadership in energy and carbon management while enhancing operational resilience and stakeholder confidence in sustainable aviation infrastructure.
