Union Bank of India has invited tenders for the installation of a solar power plant at its new or alternate premises for UMFB Madurai. The project will be carried out at โ€œUmayal Arangam,โ€ Park Town in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. The bank has opened the tender to experienced contractors who have a registered branch office within the jurisdiction of Tamil Nadu and who have earlier executed similar solar projects for public sector banks in the state.

According to the tender notification, the work involves the installation and completion of a solar power plant system at the specified premises. The estimated project cost has been set at โ‚น4,55,200, excluding Goods and Services Tax. An additional 18 percent GST will be applicable on the project value. The bank has also highlighted the urgent nature of the project and has set a very short timeline for completion. The selected contractor will be required to complete the installation within just 10 days from the date of commencement of the work.

The tender process will follow a two-bid system. Bidders will need to submit a Technical Bid and a Price Bid. The Technical Bid must be placed in Envelope 1 and the Price Bid in Envelope 2. Both envelopes must then be placed inside a third sealed cover before submission. This structure ensures that the technical evaluation of bidders is carried out before the financial bids are considered.

Interested contractors can collect the tender documents directly from the Regional Office of the bank in Madurai during office hours. The documents are also available for download through the bankโ€™s official website and the government e-procurement portal. To participate in the bidding process, contractors must submit a non-refundable tender fee of Rs. 1,000. However, firms registered with MSME, NSIC, or SSI are exempted from paying the tender fee as well as the Earnest Money Deposit.

The project requires an Earnest Money Deposit of Rs. 9,500, which must be submitted through a Demand Draft or Pay Order. The performance bank guarantee requirements are generally specified in the detailed tender conditions included in the full document.

The technical bids will be opened on the same day at 4:00 PM.

All bids must be submitted by dropping the sealed envelopes in the designated tender box at the Regional Office located on PT Rajan Road in Madurai. The bank has clearly instructed bidders not to send the documents through courier or postal services to avoid delays or disputes in the submission process.
