As solar energy adoption continues to expand globally, improving the durability and efficiency of photovoltaic (PV) modules has become increasingly important. While solar cells often receive the most attention, the materials that protect and support themโ€”such as encapsulants and backsheetsโ€”play a critical role in ensuring long-term module performance. Innovations in these materials help reduce degradation, enhance efficiency, and support the reliability of solar installations operating in diverse environmental conditions.

Alishan Green Energy focuses on developing advanced materials that contribute to stronger and more reliable solar modules. With an emphasis on in-house research and development, the company works toward creating products that improve module protection while supporting efficient manufacturing processes. Alishan Green Energy currently has a production capacity of 8 GW for encapsulants and 3 GW for backsheets, supporting the growing material requirements of solar module manufacturers.

    Product Portfolio

Alishan Green Energy offers a diverse portfolio of encapsulant and backsheet materials designed to meet the evolving needs of the solar industry.

Encapsulant solutions include ALISHAN FC, ALISHAN Front EVA, ALISHAN POE, ALISHAN EPE, ALISHAN Low-Acid EVA, ALISHAN EPE-NT, ALISHAN EPE-DC, and ALISHAN EPE-G. Complementing these are the BACKPRO series backsheets, including BACKPRO KPC, BACKPRO CPC, BACKPRO PPC, BACKPRO KPC-T, and BACKPRO CPC-T, which provide electrical insulation and environmental protection for solar modules. Together, these materials are designed to enhance module durability and ensure stable long-term operation.

    Alishan Low Acid EVA

One of the challenges associated with conventional EVA encapsulants is the release of acetic acid during prolonged exposure to heat and humidity. Over time, this can lead to corrosion of internal components and yellowing within the module structure.

Alishan Low Acid EVA has been developed to significantly reduce this issue while maintaining the familiar processing characteristics of standard EVA. The formulation produces up to four times less acid after DH 1000 hours of testing, with an acid value as low as 25 ppm. At the same time, it allows manufacturers to continue using standard lamination processes, ensuring smooth integration into existing production lines.

    Alishan EPE-DC

Solar modules are constantly exposed to ultraviolet radiation, which can affect both performance and material stability. Alishan EPE-DC addresses this challenge through Down Conversion Technology, which absorbs harmful UV light and converts it into wavelengths that solar cells can utilize to generate electricity.

This approach helps modules achieve up to 3% higher power output while also improving short-wavelength response. In addition, the encapsulant enhances resistance to UV-induced degradation, contributing to stable performance over extended periods of operation.

    Alishan EPE-G

With the growing adoption of glass-to-glass (G2G) solar modules, manufacturers require encapsulant materials that simplify lamination while maintaining high performance standards. Alishan EPE-G has been developed as a co-extruded POE encapsulant designed to address these manufacturing challenges.

Its balanced EVA/POE formulation improves processibility and offers better control during lamination. This helps manufacturers handle different bill-of-material combinations more efficiently while producing durable module structures.

    Alishan EPE-NT

The solar industry is gradually transitioning toward N-type solar technologies such as TOPCon, heterojunction (HJT), and bifacial modules, which require encapsulants with improved optical performance and stronger adhesion.

Alishan EPE-NT is engineered to support these advanced module technologies. Its optimized EVA/POE blend provides higher transparency for better light transmission while ensuring strong bonding between module layers. This combination supports efficient module integration and reliable long-term performance.

Indiaโ€™s solar industry has traditionally relied heavily on imported materials, which can create supply uncertainties and longer lead times for manufacturers. By producing encapsulants and backsheets domestically, Alishan Green Energy is helping strengthen the local solar supply chain. With the demand for solar materials continuing to grow, the company is expanding its manufacturing capabilities and aims to reach 10 GW production capacity in the coming years. Through continued innovation in encapsulant and backsheet technologies, Alishan Green Energy is supporting the development of more efficient, durable, and high-performing solar modules for the global renewable energy market.
