Jindal Stainless And Oyster Renewable Commission 315.6 MW Hybrid Project To Boost Industrial Decarbonization

Jindal Stainless and Oyster Renewable Energy Pvt Ltd have taken a major step towards industrial decarbonization with the partial commissioning of a 315.6 MW solar-wind hybrid power project in Agar-Malwa, Madhya Pradesh. This development reflects the increasing shift of large industries in India towards clean and sustainable energy solutions.

The project has been developed by Oyster Renewable with a total investment of over ₹2,000 crore, while Jindal Stainless has committed around ₹132 crore. The hybrid project spans across Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. Out of the total capacity, around 216 MW will be generated in Madhya Pradesh, while the remaining 99 MW will come from Gujarat. The commissioning is being carried out in phases, beginning with the Madhya Pradesh facility, followed by the Gujarat installation.

The project is designed to support Jindal Stainless in reducing its dependence on conventional energy sources and moving towards a cleaner energy mix. It combines solar and wind power generation to ensure a more stable and reliable energy supply, which is especially important for energy-intensive industries. The hybrid setup includes bifacial solar modules with tracker systems and advanced wind turbines, enabling better utilisation of natural resources and improved efficiency.

According to company officials, the integration of solar and wind technologies helps in balancing power generation throughout the day and across seasons. Solar energy is available during the daytime, while wind energy can complement it during non-solar hours. This approach improves overall power availability and supports consistent energy supply for industrial operations.

Siddharth Bhatia, Managing Director and CEO of Oyster Renewable Energy, said the project highlights the company’s capability to develop large-scale hybrid infrastructure with a strong focus on technology and efficient execution. He added that the project is expected to reduce carbon emissions by around 6.5 lakh tonnes every year, contributing to India’s broader climate goals.

Abhyuday Jindal, Managing Director of Jindal Stainless, stated that sustainability remains a key part of the company’s long-term strategy. He noted that such partnerships play an important role in reducing carbon intensity and strengthening clean energy adoption in the industrial sector.

Once fully operational, the project is expected to significantly cut emissions while ensuring reliable renewable power for Jindal Stainless. It also reflects the growing importance of hybrid renewable energy solutions in meeting industrial energy demand.

In addition to environmental benefits, the project has also supported local economic development. During its construction and deployment, it involved local workforce participation and regional supply chains, helping generate employment and economic activity in the region.

This project shows how collaboration between renewable energy developers and industrial companies can accelerate India’s transition to clean energy while supporting sustainable growth.
