Adani Green Energy Limited has reported a major achievement in the financial year 2025-26 by adding more than 5 GW of renewable energy capacity. The company installed a total of 5,051 MW during the year, marking one of the highest annual greenfield expansions globally outside China. With this addition, its total operational capacity has reached 19.3 GW, further strengthening its position as Indiaโs largest renewable energy company.
A large part of this expansion has come from the massive renewable energy project located in Khavda in the state of Gujarat. The project is being developed over a vast area of 538 square kilometers, making it one of the largest renewable energy parks in the world. So far, around 9.4 GW of capacity has already been installed at the site, which is part of a long-term plan to reach 30 GW capacity by 2029.
The newly added capacity includes 3.4 GW of solar power, 0.7 GW of wind power, and 1 GW of hybrid wind-solar projects. In addition to generation capacity, the company has also commissioned 1,376 MWh of battery energy storage systems at the Khavda site. This storage system will help in maintaining grid stability and managing power supply more efficiently.
The company has adopted advanced technologies such as bifacial solar modules, large 5.2 MW wind turbines, and robotic cleaning systems that do not require water. These innovations are aimed at improving efficiency and reducing environmental impact. The overall operations are expected to help in reducing nearly 36 million tonnes of carbon emissions every year.
