Spray Engineering Devices Limited to Deploy 340 KLD ZLD System with 94% Recovery at Gujarat Solar PV Plant

Spray Engineering Devices Limited (SED) has secured a major order from Gradiant India Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of Boston-headquartered Gradiant, to deploy an advanced water recovery system at a large-scale solar PV manufacturing facility in Gujarat.

The project comes amid growing concerns over water consumption in Indiaโ€™s rapidly expanding solar manufacturing sector. It involves the installation of a 340 KLD Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) system designed to ensure complete elimination of industrial wastewater discharge from the facility.

SED will implement its patented Low-Temperature Evaporation (LTEยฎ) technology, enabling the plant to achieve up to 94% volumetric recovery and 78% mass recovery of wastewater. The recovered water will be treated to high quality standards (TDS below 250 ppm) and reused across industrial processes, supporting circular water management practices.

The solution is particularly significant for water-stressed regions such as Gujarat, where industrial water usage is under increasing regulatory scrutiny. Unlike conventional systems that rely heavily on external steam, SEDโ€™s technology operates through internal energy recycling, reducing both energy consumption and carbon emissions.

Commenting on the development, Vimarsh Verma stated that industrial water reuse is becoming a critical component of modern manufacturing. He highlighted that the partnership with Gradiant demonstrates the ability of Indian engineering solutions to meet global environmental standards while maintaining cost efficiency.

The project will be executed by SED on a turnkey basis, covering design, engineering, supply, installation, and commissioning, with a focus on operational efficiency and timely delivery.

The order aligns with tightening regulatory norms in India, where Zero Liquid Discharge systems are increasingly becoming mandatory for large-scale โ€˜Red Categoryโ€™ industries. It also supports the countryโ€™s broader push under initiatives such as โ€œMake in Indiaโ€ and renewable energy expansion targets.

With Indiaโ€™s solar manufacturing sector projected to grow at over 30% annually, the collaboration between Gradiant and SED highlights a growing emphasis on sustainable industrial practices. The project is expected to set a benchmark for environmentally responsible manufacturing in the solar PV segment, particularly in regions facing water scarcity.
