In a move reflecting the rapid evolution of India’s solar manufacturing landscape, Waaree Energies, through its subsidiary Sangam Solar One, has commissioned four 750 MW solar module manufacturing lines in Gujarat, marking a significant scale-up in domestic production capacity.

From an industry standpoint, the addition of modular manufacturing lines signals a strategic shift toward flexible and scalable production architectures, enabling faster ramp-up cycles and adaptability to evolving solar technologies. Experts note that such configurations allow manufacturers to optimise throughput while maintaining operational efficiency across varying demand cycles.

The expansion comes at a time when India is intensifying efforts to strengthen domestic solar supply chains and reduce reliance on imports. With supportive policy frameworks and increasing demand from utility-scale and commercial & industrial (C&I) segments, manufacturers are accelerating capacity additions to align with both national targets and global market opportunities.

Analysts highlight that Waaree’s continued investments indicate a broader transition within the sector—from incremental capacity additions to integrated, giga-scale manufacturing ecosystems. This approach not only enhances production capabilities but also improves resilience against global supply chain disruptions and pricing volatility.

The commissioning also reinforces Gujarat’s position as a key hub for solar manufacturing in India, supported by infrastructure readiness, policy incentives, and proximity to major logistics networks.

From a competitive perspective, the scale and structure of these new lines are expected to strengthen Waaree’s positioning in both domestic and international markets. Industry observers note that manufacturers with large-scale, modular, and potentially integrated operations are better equipped to respond to tariff-sensitive procurement environments and evolving technology standards.
