India-Bhutan Energy: Union Minister Manohar Lal to Visit Bhutan for Hydropower Cooperation

Shri Manohar Lal, Union Minister of Power and Housing & Urban Affairs, Government of India, will undertake a four-day official visit to Bhutan aimed at strengthening bilateral ties, particularly in the hydropower and energy sectors.

During his visit, the Minister is scheduled to review progress on key hydropower projects, including Punatsangchhu-I and Punatsangchhu-II, which form a critical part of the India–Bhutan energy cooperation framework. He will also participate in project milestone events and engage with officials and technical teams overseeing their implementation and operations.

The visit highlights the shared commitment of India and Bhutan to deepen collaboration in clean energy, enhance cross-border power trade, and support Bhutan’s socio-economic development. Hydropower cooperation continues to serve as a cornerstone of the India–Bhutan partnership, delivering sustainable energy generation and fostering economic growth for both nations.

Shri Manohar Lal will also hold discussions with senior Bhutanese leaders to explore further bilateral cooperation across sectors of mutual interest.
