PLN Persero has supplied high-voltage electricity with a capacity of 250 MVA to PT Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper (IKPP) Karawang Mill in West Java, reinforcing its role in supporting industrial growth and national economic development.

The power connection is expected to support the expansion of Indonesia’s pulp and paper industry, enhancing its competitiveness in global markets. As part of the infrastructure development, PLN, through its Central Java Main Development Unit, previously commissioned a 150 kV High Voltage Overhead Line (SUTT) project connecting Telukjambe to the IKPP Karawang facility.

With a total capacity of 250 MVA, the electricity supply is projected to boost IKPP’s production capabilities across industrial brown and white paper segments, while also creating employment opportunities for up to 2,500 people, both directly and indirectly.

PLN Director of Retail and Commerce Adi Priyanto stated that the development underscores PLN’s readiness to support industrial productivity and strengthen Indonesia’s position in the global market through reliable and high-quality electricity supply.

Meanwhile, Sugeng Widodo, General Manager of PLN’s West Java Distribution Unit, confirmed the readiness of the regional power system to meet large-scale industrial demand, including that of the IKPP Karawang facility.

From the customer side, Hendri Gunawan, Mill Head of IKPP Karawang, described the electricity connection as a significant milestone in strengthening collaboration between PLN and the company, supporting long-term industrial growth and competitiveness.

PLN stated that it will continue to enhance its electricity services to be more reliable and customer-focused, in line with its commitment to supporting Indonesia’s broader economic development.
