Haryana’s ₹298 Crore CAMPA Plan Boosts Afforestation with Strong Push for Solar Integration

The Government of Haryana has approved a ₹298 crore Annual Plan of Operations under the Compensatory Afforestation Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA), with a growing emphasis on integrating renewable energy—particularly solar—into its environmental strategy.

While the plan includes large-scale afforestation, such as planting over 20 lakh saplings and maintaining more than 4,500 hectares of forest land, a key highlight is the deployment of solar power systems across forest offices in all districts. This move aims to reduce dependence on grid-based electricity and diesel generators, aligning forest management with clean energy goals.

The initiative reflects a broader shift toward greening public infrastructure through renewables, where solar installations will support day-to-day forest operations, surveillance systems, and administrative functions. By integrating solar energy into forestry operations, the state is not only reducing its carbon footprint but also demonstrating how decentralized renewable systems can be deployed in remote and off-grid locations.

In addition, ecological restoration efforts in the Aravalli and Shivalik regions—including soil conservation and water management—are expected to create more climate-resilient landscapes, indirectly supporting renewable energy stability in the long term.

The plan also includes urban forestry initiatives and improved forest monitoring infrastructure, further strengthening sustainability outcomes.

By combining afforestation with solar adoption, Haryana is positioning itself at the intersection of natural climate solutions and clean energy deployment, highlighting a more integrated approach to achieving climate targets while enhancing energy efficiency across government operations.
