The move comes amid rapid growth in the global solar sector, with India emerging as a key market in the energy transition. Backed by the Government of India’s ambitious target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030—including 280 GW from solar—demand for reliable and independent quality assurance solutions continues to rise.

The newly acquired facility will offer comprehensive ISO 17025 accredited testing services for solar PV installations, materials, and components. It will also provide certifications under the BIS and IECEE CB Scheme, enabling both domestic manufacturers and international companies to access global markets more efficiently through standardized and accelerated testing processes.

This acquisition strengthens Intertek’s risk-based Quality Assurance portfolio in the solar PV segment while expanding its footprint in Western India. The addition of the Ahmedabad lab further complements Intertek CEA’s end-to-end solar solutions, which include advanced services such as aerial drone inspections and solar plant performance assessments for developers, manufacturers, and other industry stakeholders.

He stated that solar energy is a key driver of the global energy transition and emphasized India’s position as one of the world’s leading solar power producers. He added that the acquisition will enable Intertek to capitalize on growth opportunities while contributing to the country’s long-term electrification and clean energy goals.
