The Airports Authority of India (AAI) at Chennai Airport has invited online item rate e-tenders for the operation and maintenance of its rooftop solar power infrastructure at the Integrated Cargo Complex. The contract covers the โFacility Management and Comprehensive Maintenance Contract of 1.5 MWP Roof Top Grid Connected Solar PV Plantโ and will remain valid for a period of 36 months. The project is being managed by the Senior Manager of Engineering Electrical (AMED-VII) on behalf of the Chairman of AAI.
As per the tender notice, the estimated project cost has been fixed at Rs. 1,60,91,556 excluding GST. The bidding process will follow a two-envelope open tender system. Envelope-I will include the Technical Bid along with pre-qualification documents, while Envelope-II will contain the Financial Bid. All interested bidders are required to participate through the Central Public Procurement (CPP) Portal using the online submission process.
The tender notice was officially published on May 20, 2026, at 18:00 hours. The downloading and sale of tender documents started on May 21, 2026, at 09:00 hours. Contractors seeking clarifications related to the tender conditions or technical specifications can submit their queries online through the CPP Portal before May 28, 2026, at 16:00 hours.
The online submission of bids also began on May 21, 2026, and the last date for submission has been fixed for June 11, 2026, up to 15:00 hours. The Technical Bids are scheduled to be opened on June 12, 2026, at 15:30 hours. Meanwhile, the Financial Bids are expected to be opened on June 15, 2026, at 15:00 hours, depending on the outcome of the technical evaluation process.
To participate in the tender, bidders are required to pay a non-refundable Tender Processing Fee of Rs. 1,180 including GST through the CPP Portal. In addition, an Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) of Rs. 4,82,747 has been made mandatory, which is equal to 3 percent of the estimated project value. The tender notice, however, does not clearly mention any Performance Bank Guarantee requirement.
AAI has also laid down strict eligibility conditions for participating firms. Bidders must possess a valid Electrical Contractorโs License issued by a State Licensing Authority. They should also have prior experience in handling similar grid-connected solar power plant operation and maintenance projects during the last seven years. The authority has further clarified that consortiums and joint ventures will not be allowed to participate in the bidding process, ensuring that the contract is awarded only to a single qualified entity.
