POWERGRID Invites Bids For 100 MW/400 MWh BESS Project In West Bengal’s Hooghly District

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited has invited bids for the development of a large-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in West Bengal. The project, named Package WB-BESS-03, involves the establishment of a 100 MW / 400 MWh battery storage facility in Hooghly district. The initiative is expected to strengthen grid reliability and support the growing integration of renewable energy into the power network.

The tender has been issued under Tender Reference Number CC/T/W-MISC/DOM/A01/26/07592 and falls under the electrical works category within the power and energy sector. The project represents another important step in India’s efforts to modernize its power infrastructure and enhance energy storage capacity.

According to the tender notification, the bidding process officially commenced on June 1, 2026. Both the tender publication and document sale started at 6:01 PM on the same day. Interested companies can access the tender details through Power Grid’s PRANIT Portal using RFX Number 5002005419.

Eligible bidders have until June 20, 2026, at 11:55 PM to purchase the tender documents. The non-refundable tender fee has been fixed at ₹25,000. At present, both the estimated tender value and the Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) have been listed as zero, indicating that the final project cost will be determined through the competitive bidding process.

The online submission of bids also began on June 1, 2026, at 6:01 PM. Interested participants must submit all required documents electronically before the deadline of June 22, 2026, at 11:00 AM. The bid opening is scheduled to take place on the same day at 11:30 AM, allowing the evaluation process to begin shortly after submissions close.

The tender process is being managed by Power Grid’s corporate team. The designated Tender Inviting Officer is the Manager (CC-CS), Employee Number 60003522, based at the company’s office in Gurgaon. Power Grid has advised all prospective bidders to carefully review the eligibility and pre-qualification requirements available on the portal before submitting their technical and financial proposals.

The proposed 100 MW / 400 MWh BESS project is expected to play a significant role in improving grid stability, supporting renewable energy integration, and strengthening the power infrastructure of West Bengal.
