Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has invited online bids for the development of a 400 kV Gas Insulated Substation (GIS) package in the Tuticorin region of Tamil Nadu. The package, named “400kV GIS Substation Package SS 104T,” forms an important part of the transmission infrastructure planned to support upcoming Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia projects in the area.
The tender has been issued under the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) framework. POWERGRID is conducting this bidding process before submitting its own Request for Proposal (RfP) to the Bid Process Coordinator (BPC). Through this approach, the company aims to secure a suitable partner for the substation package and strengthen its position in the competitive bidding process for ownership and operation of the transmission project.
The project falls under the Power and Energy sector and has been released as an open works contract. Since the transmission system will support large-scale renewable energy and green fuel projects, the opportunity is open to qualified bidders from across India and abroad. Interested companies can participate through POWERGRID’s electronic tendering platform, the PRANIT Portal, under RFX Number 5002005453.
According to the tender notice, the bidding schedule has been designed with a limited submission period. The sale of tender documents and online submission of bid documents started on June 5, 2026, at 7:30 PM. Eligible bidders can download and purchase the tender documents until June 20, 2026, at 11:55 PM.
The last date for submission of technical and financial bids through the PRANIT portal is June 22, 2026, at 11:00 AM. The bids will be opened on the same day at 11:30 AM, after which the evaluation process will begin.
POWERGRID has kept the financial requirements for participation relatively simple at this stage. No tender fee has been prescribed for bidders, and no Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) is required to be submitted along with the bid. The tender notice also states that details related to the Performance Bank Guarantee (PBG) will be available in the commercial documents of the tender and will follow POWERGRID’s standard corporate guidelines.
The procurement process is being managed from POWERGRID’s corporate office in Gurugram, Haryana.
