Aboitiz Power Corporation (AboitizPower) and the Climate Change Commission (CCC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a long-term framework for knowledge sharing, capacity building, and data-driven policy research focused on the power sector and climate change mitigation and adaptation.
The strategic partnership aims to support the Philippines’ transition toward a climate-smart and sustainable energy future by bridging private sector operational expertise with public sector policy frameworks, aligned with the National Climate Change Action Plan.
The MoU was signed by CCC Vice Chairperson and Executive Director Robert Borje and AboitizPower First Vice President for External Relations Jason Magnaye. The ceremony was witnessed by Mapúa University Executive Vice President Raul Victor Tan and CCC Deputy Executive Director Romell Antonio Cuenca.
The signing coincided with a two-day “Power Systems 101” training program developed in collaboration with Mapúa University. The program is designed to align policy concepts with operational realities in the Philippine power sector and marks its third rollout since its launch in 2025.
Officials noted that the initiative is expected to strengthen institutional understanding of power systems while supporting evidence-based climate policy development and implementation.
